Pierre Alvarez is a seasoned executive with over forty years of experience in the Canadian oil, natural gas, pipeline and electricity sectors. He provides clients with strategic advice and counsel on their interactions with governments, stakeholders and the media.
He has been directly involved in many significant policy and project developments in the energy field as an Executive Leadership Team member at Transmountain Pipelines and Nexen Inc.; as President of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), Chairman; CEO of the NWT Power Corporation; and Deputy Minister to the Premier of the Northwest Territories in Yellowknife. Early in his career he was Executive Assistant to the federal Conservative Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources, serving as part of the Mulroney government’s team that dismantled the National Energy Program (NEP).
Pierre holds a Master of Arts in Political Studies from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of British Columbia. He also completed the Director’s Program at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Pierre is active in numerous community and charitable organizations including the Nature Conservancy of Canada, the Trail Association for Community Living and Hospice Calgary.
