Martin Green has joined the Global team in Ottawa as Senior Advisor. A former senior federal public servant and political aide, he brings years of specialized experience in foreign affairs, defence policy, national security, and intelligence issues.

From 2015-2024, Martin served as Assistant Secretary to Cabinet, Intelligence Assessment at the Privy Council Office, where he provided foreign intelligence analysis to the Prime Minister, Cabinet, and the senior leadership of the Government of Canada. In this capacity, Martin played a central role in the Canadian intelligence community and fostered relationships with allied intelligence organizations and other partners globally.

As Director General for Policy Planning at the Department of National Defence from 2011-2015, Martin advised senior Government of Canada officials on emerging global security trends including cyber and space policy, export permits, foreign investment arms control and non-proliferation.

Martin also previously held senior positions at Environment Canada, the Privy Council Office, Industry Canada, and Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

Prior to joining the public service, Martin worked as a senior political advisor to several federal Ministers including the Ministers of Industry, Trade and Environment as well as the President of Treasury Board.

Martin is currently a Senior Fellow at the MacDonald-Laurier Institute. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Glendon College at York University.
