James Roche is a Senior Associate in Global’s Ottawa office who is an experienced practitioner with strong credentials in government and the private sector. He has an extensive background in transportation and is involved primarily with clients in the marine and rail sectors, providing advice on public policy and strategic positioning. James has led national public affairs consultancies, led VIA Rail, the Canada-wide passenger rail transportation company, and served as Chief of Staff to federal Transport Ministers, and as a senior policy advisor to a number of government departments and agencies. James currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Institute for Health and Safety in Agriculture and is the past Chairman of the Canada Post Foundation on Mental Health. Outside of his work with Global, he is also engaged in capacity-building and governance work in the Middle East. James has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science from the University of Saskatchewan, an Honours Bachelor’s of Arts in History and Master of Arts in History from McGill University.
