During his time with Global Public Affairs, Charlie has managed files in various industries including renewable energy, oil and gas, fisheries, and asset management. A former Special Advisor to Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, Charlie is the lead on all our files in Newfoundland and Labrador.
He served as the campaign director for Newfoundland and Labrador for Prime Minister Mark Carney’s leadership bid as well as for the 2025 federal general election. He frequently appears as a guest on the Tim Powers Show, where he provides insight into current affairs and has also appeared on CBC National Newsroom with Andrew Nichols. His experience and understanding of both government relations and communications is bolstered by his extensive network of contacts in Ottawa and St. John’s within the political and bureaucratic realms. His experience as the political liaison with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador means that he has an acute understanding of how the machinery of government works within his home province and in Ottawa.
Charlie is a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland with a degree in Business Administration. He also has a Master’s in Public Relations from Mount St. Vincent University where his research focused on the effective use of social media in crisis situations and the framing of energy issues by media.
He serves as a volunteer on the Board of Directors of the Rennie’s River Quidi Vidi Development Foundation, the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern NL, the Board of Directors of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, and is a volunteer with the 2025 Canada Games media relations team.
