How has COVID-19 changed Queen’s Park communications?
Our Queen’s Park team has been closely monitoring the changes in communications from Queen’s Park as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the Legislature currently in recess, MPPs are adapting to public service without a public forum by migrating to direct communication with constituents. The daily press briefings held by Premier Ford and key Ministers have replaced the theatrics of Question Period as a medium to update the public on the government’s response to the pandemic.
As the nature of communications from Queen’s Park has changed, targeted engagement must change with it. But how exactly? We conducted a survey to determine which engagement platforms are most common amongst MPPs. Without question, many of these practices will be here to stay.
