Global’s Technology practice services emerging and established companies working in and supporting the digital economy.

We help clients navigate regulatory, market access and policy challenges for emerging technologies as well as drive advocacy supporting the digital economy and broader modernization, including data privacy and data governance. We also support clients on wider policy challenges, including economic development, labour, and procurement policies.

Our diverse team has experience across multiple sectors engaging with all levels of government and stakeholders. We have a keen understanding of the complex issues facing those who drive disruption and innovation, and the experience to help advance their mandate. Our support includes the strategy, development, and tactical execution for companies from conception to commercialization.

Semilore Ajayi is an Associate Consultant in Global’s Transportation, Infrastructure, and Communities practice group in Alberta. She will be supporting the team with strategic client-government relations through research, coordination, communication, analysis, and monitoring and reporting on legislative, regulatory, and political developments.

Semilore is a previous 1834 public policy fellow, graduating from the program’s inaugural year, where she and a team presented policy recommendations on Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program to Prime Minister Trudeau and other Ministers. She has extensive experience in advocacy and fundraising, working and volunteering as a youth leader and program manager to support black and Indigenous youth in Calgary and across the GTA. She is passionate about exploring the importance of social entrepreneurship, the non-profit, and technology sectors as tools to support underrepresented communities.

Semilore completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Toronto with a double major in Political Science and African Studies.

Sonia Boskov is an Associate Consultant in the Energy, Environment and Resources practice group based out of our Ottawa office. In this role, she provides strategic research, logistical support and monitors media and policy development.

Prior to joining Global, Sonia worked as a Research Coordinator at the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business. She has also held a number of volunteer positions in research, advocacy and politics at organizations including the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, McGill University, Journalists for Human Rights and the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal.

Sonia holds a Master of Applied Politics degree, with a specialization in public policy from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from McGill University. As part of her master’s program, she completed a Major Research Project in the form of a professional policy analysis of Ontario’s Indigenous Education policy.

Nicole Brassard is a Associate Vice President in the Vancouver Office of Global Public Affairs. She provides government relations, stakeholder engagement and communications support to clients in the Transportation, Infrastructure and Technology sectors. She is the co-chair of Global’s Technology Practice and assists clients in the sector from conception to commercialization. She currently sits on the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade’s Regional and Civic Affairs Committee. Prior to joining Global, Nicole was the Regional Director for a federal political party managing stakeholder engagement, media relations and strategic policy outreach in Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Territories.

Nicole has extensive experience managing election campaigns and continues to provide strategic counsel at the federal level. She also worked in law for more than a decade for several national and international law firms in their corporate and insurance practice groups.

Isaac is a Consultant with Global’s Queen’s Park team where he works closely with clients to develop and execute government relations strategies while providing legislative monitoring and strategic analysis on political developments in Ontario.

Before joining Global, Isaac served as an Intern for Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development and Growth. Isaac also worked on counter-terrorism issues at the U.K. Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, U.K.

Isaac holds a Master of Global Affairs degree with a specialization in global markets from the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in political science from Western University. While completing his master’s degree, Isaac served as the Director of Written Content for a student-led international affairs publication called Global Conversations.

Catherine is Senior Consultant in the Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources practice group based out of our Ottawa office.  In this role, Catherine provides strategic research, logistical support, and a high level of care to clients.

Before joining Global, Catherine worked in research and media monitoring at an Ottawa-based public affairs firm, supporting clients from a wide range of industries.  Catherine has amassed a wide breadth of experience in both the political and non-governmental sectors, including work with a former Member of Parliament, within St. Thomas University, and at the Atlantic Centre for Human Rights.

Catherine holds a Master’s in Political Management from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Public Policy, and Human Rights from St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Candice Laws is a Vice President, Alberta and a key member of Global’s Western Canada government relations practice. Based in Calgary, she supports client initiatives in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Candice assists clients by providing government and current affairs monitoring, analysis, and strategic advice on a range of issues, detailed research support, and managing logistical and communications support for issue-specific initiatives including advocacy days, workshops, seminars, and roundtable discussions. She pursues this work for clients in the health and life sciences, natural resources and infrastructure sectors.

Candice joined Global Public Affairs after having worked for the Canada West Foundation, researching and writing on a variety of public policy issues including Western Canadian economic diversification and the Alberta non-profit sector. She also had the opportunity to work overseas, developing an HIV/AIDS awareness program for high school and university-aged youth in western Ukraine.

Candice is also an active member of the Global Connections Committee, organizing internal team building opportunities and charitable giving.

She holds a BA in Political Science and Psychology from the University of Alberta, and a Master’s of Political Science from the University of Calgary.

Thanh Ngo is a Senior Consultant and a member of Global Public Affair’s Alberta team, supporting clients in the Health and Life Sciences portfolio. Prior to joining Global Thanh worked as a Sector Lead in Advanced Technologies and Life Sciences for the Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Innovation at the Government of Alberta.

In his seven-year tenure with the Government of Alberta, he supported the development of a number of commercialization and innovation hubs across Alberta, as well as the development of collaborative investment opportunities with industry, non-profit, and other government agencies to support the growing life sciences sector.

Thanh holds a Bachelor of Biological Science and a Master of Biomedical Technology from the University of Calgary.

Curtis O’Nyon is Senior Counsel, Federal and Municipal Relations. With over two decades of experience in the Ottawa political environment, he is a sought-after advisor and strategist for corporate, non-profit and political organizations. In that time, he has built and fostered relationships with government staffers, politicians and the corporate sector in Ottawa and across Canada. Curtis has proven experience managing industry associations, businesses, non-profits and government. His clients count on him to develop and implement strategic advocacy plans and to provide comprehensive public and government relations advice.

His knowledge of municipal governments and their intergovernmental relationship within the federation is based on working closely with municipal governments across Canada for over a decade.

Jordan Pinkster is the Director, Transportation, Infrastructure and Communities for Alberta.

Jordan supports Global’s client with strategic communications, stakeholder relations, and government relations support. He brings a wealth of experience in municipal government having served as the the Chief of Staff for a member of Calgary City Council prior to joining the Global team. Jordan is passionate about the outdoors and has been a regular volunteer on conservation initiatives through organizations like Trout Unlimited Canada. Jordan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Policy Studies from Mount Royal University.

Scott is a Consultant based out of our Vancouver office. In this role, Scott provides strategic research, logistical support, and a high level of care to clients across a number of sectors, with a focus on provincial and municipal government relations.

Before joining Global, Scott worked in policy roles for both the Federal Government, with the Ministry of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Development; and the Government of British Columbia, with the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Competitiveness (now Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation). In these roles, Scott conducted policy work related to technology, arts and culture, and social services.

Scott also interned with the Consulate of the United States in Vancouver while still in university, conducting research to inform American foreign policy with regards to British Columbia, as well as at the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia shortly after graduation where he provided communications support for MLAs.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia. He originally hails from the Kootenay Region.

Rod Elliot is one of Canada’s leading public affairs consulting executives with over 20 years experience in the private sector and public sector.

Since joining Global Public Affairs in 2009 he has been responsible for the launching of the firms Health Reimbursement, Cannabis and Technology & Innovation practices.

Based in Toronto, Rod is currently SVP Cultural Industries and Emerging Issues focused on working with a variety of clients across multiple practices.

Before joining Global, Rod gained significant political experience in a number of roles with the Ontario Government at Queen’s Park. In addition, Rod spent seven years at TD Bank Financial Group executing government relations programs on behalf of the bank.

Based in Toronto, Vince is a Director and Technology Practice Lead at Global Public Affairs. Vince supports clients in navigating policy challenges and market access for emerging technologies. He provides strategic and tactical intelligence to clients by monitoring and analyzing current affairs and policy developments at the provincial and federal levels. With specific focus on policy and regulatory developments pertaining to data, privacy, government modernization, government funding and procurement, Vince also supports market entry efforts and stakeholder relations programs as it relates to the growing Canadian technology ecosystem.

Vince has worked on numerous political campaigns at all levels of government, with involvement ranging from issues and volunteer organization to senior leadership roles.

Vince holds a Master of Science degree in International Relations with a specialization in Economics from the University of Edinburgh, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Wilfrid Laurier University.
