Glenn Monteith joins Global Public Affairs as Senior Associate, Health and Life Sciences.
Canada’s leading national public affairs practice for the life sciences sector is pleased to announce that Glenn Monteith has joined the firm as Senior Associate based in Ottawa. A recognized health policy and industry leader, Monteith brings over thirty years of broad experience in both government and the private sector to Global.
“Joining Global made intuitive sense to me on many levels,” said Monteith. “Their national reach and strong reputation for high-quality client service, evident policy depth and ability to bridge between various levels of government and the life sciences industry made this a natural match for my own experience and interests.”
“The Canadian public policy environment for the life sciences sector is facing an unprecedented array of challenges and opportunities,” said Monteith. “I’m excited to continue working in support of a better healthcare system while ensuring that Canada capitalizes on the tremendous economic potential offered in this sector.”
In the public sector, Monteith is a former Executive Director of Alberta Health’s Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences Branch where he played a key role in reform the provinces drug benefit programs in addition to his leadership at the Federal/Provincial/Territorial National Pharmaceutical Strategy table. From 2007-2013, he was Assistant Deputy Minister of Health Workforce with overall responsibility for health workforce planning, contract negotiations (physicians, pharmacies/pharmacists), pharmaceutical programs and health support programs. Monteith subsequently served as the Chief Delivery Officer for Alberta Heath, including as designated acting Deputy Minister with accountability for four divisions (workforce, IT/IM, Seniors and continuing care, primary care).
In addition to various positions in the innovative pharmaceutical industry earlier in his career, most recently Monteith served in the roles of Vice President, Innovation and Health Sustainability and Executive Advisor to the President at Innovative Medicines Canada, the national association for Canada’s research-based pharmaceutical industry.
