Over the course of a 30-year career in the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT), Mike served in a series of senior roles culminating in his appointment as Secretary to Cabinet and Deputy Minister of the Executive and Indigenous Affairs.  In this role, Mike led the GNWT’s public service and was a key advisor to the Premier of the Northwest Territories and Ministers.  Prior to this, Mike served as the GNWT’s Deputy Minister of Finance, Deputy Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs and Deputy Minister of Public Works.  He also served from 2016-2019 as Vice Chair of the Northwest Territories Power Corporation.
