Stephen Sampson

Director, Health & Life Sciences

Stephen Sampson is Director, Health & Life Sciences at Global Public Affairs. As a senior member of Global’s Health & Life Sciences practice, he helps lead an integrated and dynamic team of policy professionals on Federal, Provincial and F/P/T issues. Steve has specific experience in economic development and competitiveness issues, innovation in health care, market access and reimbursement, Health Technology Assessment (HTA), regulatory reform, intellectual property and international trade matters.

Prior to his arrival at Global Public Affairs, Steve was a member of the Government Affairs Department at Canada’s Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (Rx&D), where his key responsibilities included policy advocacy and development on a wide range of public policies impacting the innovative biopharmaceutical sector.

Before joining Rx&D, he held a senior position for a major national trade association with particular focus on international trade and economic policy issues. His professional career began in Ottawa and included progressive roles in the office of a Cabinet Minister within a number of federal departments in addition to a Member of Parliament.

Steve is a graduate of both the London School of Economics (Master of Science) in the United Kingdom and the University of King’s College and Dalhousie University (joint Bachelor of Arts) in Halifax.
