Laurie Griffin

Consultant, Corpen Group

Laurie Griffin is involved in a wide range of crisis communications, corporate communications and issues management programs. Specifically, Laurie has developed crisis communications plans for organizations in non-profit, agri-business, finance and the energy sector including an international pipeline infrastructure company undergoing a high degree of scrutiny in media and social media.

In addition to crisis communications, Laurie brings a strong skill set in corporate communications having written communications audits, communications plans and toolkits for organizations ranging from municipalities, to think-tanks, to international energy companies. Laurie has also developed issues management frameworks for a provincial government and a fortune 500 company.

Previously, Laurie worked for a large national public relations firm. Her experience includes media relations, writing and strategic communication planning for an array of industries, and sectors, with a focus on energy. Laurie also lends her communications expertise in volunteer endeavours having served as marketing director for three years with the Calgary chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). As well as volunteering for organizations such as Serve Nepal and Bethany Care Society where she provided a variety of communication collateral and counsel.

Laurie has an Applied Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Mount Royal University, where she graduated with recognition of excellence from both the faculty dean and the college president. With a Journalism Diploma from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), Laurie has freelanced for a major weekly newspaper and contributed regularly to an online non-bylined energy magazine for Canadian energy consumers.
