Kristin Anderson is Senior Vice President, managing Global’s Alberta practice from Calgary. She has over ten years of experience providing senior strategic counsel and guidance to clients across all sectors of the economy. She excels in building advocacy strategies that drive successful outcomes for Global’s clients. Prior to joining the company, Kristin worked in Stephen Harper’s Office of the Leader of the Opposition in Ottawa and for Nortel Networks, in the United Kingdom. Kristin is passionate about community-building and sits on the Board of Directors for the Carya Society of Calgary; the Calgary International Film Festival; and Alberta Women Entrepreneurs. She also participates in fundraising initiatives for the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter. She holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from the University of Calgary.

Tom Clark joined Global after almost 45 years at the most senior levels of Canadian journalism. He left Global News on January 1, 2017, after serving as the network’s chief political correspondent and host of The West Block. He has interviewed every Canadian Prime Minister since Lester B. Pearson and has covered every federal election campaign since 1974. He has reported in eight active war zones and from over 33 countries. Tom was CTV’s China Bureau Chief and was also its Chief Washington Correspondent for five years. He has a deep understanding of Canada’s position in an increasingly complicated international dynamic. Tom is the recipient of Radio Television Digital News Association lifetime achievement award and has been named one of the most influential journalists in Ottawa.

Thoren Hudyma brings to Global two decades of experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and public affairs, with a focus on reputation and crisis management in controversial sectors. What makes Thoren unique is her many years of first-hand experience leading public campaigns for companies that have already gained a social license and public support in B.C.’s complex regulatory and stakeholder environment. She is recognized for her ability to work with executives, technical staff, and field staff alike to find common solutions that contribute to completing projects on time and on budget.

Most recently, at BC Hydro, Thoren led a newly-formed integrated business unit responsible for the communications, stakeholder consultation, government relations, Aboriginal communications, and sustainability activities for the company’s infrastructure program. In this role, her team was responsible for gaining community support on dozens of projects through their development of best practice programs. Before this, she was Director of Public Affairs at the BC Transmission Corporation, where she was responsible for all internal and external communications and stakeholder programs on a number of successfully completed projects.

Thoren has also worked as an account director at a major public relations firm and was a media spokesperson for former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien. In this role, she was responsible for speaking publicly, on behalf of the Prime Minister, on a range of high profile and controversial issues. Thoren has been a political commentator for a major national news network and has enjoyed being a regular speaker at industry conferences across North America.

Sophia is a Senior Consultant in Global Public Affairs’ Toronto office and a member of the National Communications team. She provides strategic support on a variety of files, both provincially and federally.

Prior to joining Global, she was the Issues Manager and Legislative Assistant to the Ontario Minister of Finance. During her time at Queen’s Park, Sophia was responsible for strategic and responsive message development as well as daily briefings for the Minister and Premier’s Office. She also oversaw the passage of multiple pieces of budgetary legislation. Sophia leverages her political acuity and keen ability to distill complex policy into easy to understand language in all her work.

A dual-citizen, Sophia has experience working for the Massachusetts House of Representatives and a Massachusetts Federal Senator in a constituency capacity. In a former life, Sophia worked in the non-profit sector, including front-line work with homeless youth in downtown Toronto.

Sophia holds a Hons. Bachelor of Science with Distinction from the University of Toronto, double major in Political Science and Psychology.

Elan MacDonald, ICD.D is the Senior Vice President, National Client Development, Global Public Affairs.  Elan joined Global Public Affairs after building and running her own public affairs firm for close to a decade.   Global Public Affairs works with local, national and multi-national corporations to sustain and grow their businesses by navigating government, policy development, the regulatory and legislative processes, and the shifting political, social and economic landscapes.

Ms. MacDonald is a Director on the boards of Edmonton Global and the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, where she is also a member of the Chamber’s Policy Committee and chairs the Government Relations Committee.  Elan also serves as Director on Atlas Biotechnologies and NorQuest College’s 1000 Women Advisory Board.

Ms. MacDonald has a long history in Alberta politics serving as Deputy Chief of Staff and Political Advisor to two Alberta Premiers, and as a political advisor to Cabinet Ministers.

Elan is well-versed in the issues relevant to diversifying our economy and attracting, growing and sustaining businesses. She offers a unique perspective among government relations professionals. One that is firmly grounded in the Alberta experience, and the result of more than 20 years of working as an executive in political, private sector and community and stakeholder relations roles. Elan has lived, worked and volunteered in Alberta – with Albertans – for her entire career.

Rick Roth is the Vice President, Ontario, at Global Public Affairs, helping clients navigate the new Government in Ontario under Premier Doug Ford.  Rick works with clients seeking opportunities to collaborate with the public sector to achieve their business objectives.

Rick has more than a decade of experience in government, crisis communications and public affairs, holding senior positions in Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.  Most recently he served as the Chief of Staff to the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks helping shape Ontario’s Environment Plan; a detailed vision ranging from the protection of air, land and water, addressing litter and waste as well as Ontario’s new approach to Climate Change and Greenhouse Gas Emissions.

Previously Rick spent more than two years as the Senior Manager for Issues and Reputation Management at Scotiabank, one of Canada’s largest and most international banks.  There he crafted crisis communications plans for the Bank and their senior executives ranging from issues around cyber security, international trade and commerce as well as in retail and digital banking.  Rick also led the Bank’s external communications strategy during their quarterly earnings as well as numerous mergers and acquisitions.

Rick served within the Government of Canada as the Director of Communications to Canada’s Foreign Minister as well as with Canada’s International Trade Minister; leading the communications team in promoting Canada’s foreign policy and trade priorities around the world, responding to the fluid and unpredictable nature of international relations.  Rick’s term with the federal government concluded with the Minister of International Trade during the signing of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership), where Rick led the communications roll-out and stakeholder strategy.

Rick is passionate about international relations, crisis communications and politics, and has built a positive reputation among his colleagues in the media, both in Canada and around the world.

Rick is a graduate of Brock University with a B.A. in Political Science with a Concentration in Public Law.

Andrea Chrysanthou oversees national communications and public relations support for clients as Director of Global’s Strategic Communications practice. She has more than a decade of experience working at some of Canada’s top national broadcasters as well as international news organizations. Her background as a journalist and television producer gives her a unique understanding of what the media needs to actualize a great story. Andrea began her career in broadcast and print news and moved into working in television production, going on to serve as a lifestyles and news producer for some of Canada’s top-tier networks. As a producer, Andrea pioneered the creation of organic public relations opportunities for brands looking for exposure on her programs and her role evolved from production to public relations and marketing. Andrea holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Journalism from Ryerson University.
