Andrea Chrysanthou oversees national communications and public relations support for clients as Director of Global’s Strategic Communications practice. She has more than a decade of experience working at some of Canada’s top national broadcasters as well as international news organizations. Her background as a journalist and television producer gives her a unique understanding of what the media needs to actualize a great story. Andrea began her career in broadcast and print news and moved into working in television production, going on to serve as a lifestyles and news producer for some of Canada’s top-tier networks. As a producer, Andrea pioneered the creation of organic public relations opportunities for brands looking for exposure on her programs and her role evolved from production to public relations and marketing. Andrea holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Journalism from Ryerson University.

Nicole Brassard is a Senior Consultant in the Vancouver Office of Global Public Affairs. She provides government relations, stakeholder engagement and communications support to clients in the Transportation, Infrastructure and Technology sectors. Prior to joining Global, Nicole was the Regional Director for a federal political party managing stakeholder engagement, media relations and strategic policy outreach in Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Territories. Nicole has extensive experience managing election campaigns and has knowledge of strategic messaging and micro-targeting using a variety of innovative platforms. She also worked in law for more than a decade for several national and international law firms in their corporate and insurance practice groups. Nicole holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Alberta and a diploma from Canadore College.

Thoren Hudyma brings to Global two decades of experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and public affairs, with a focus on reputation and crisis management in controversial sectors. What makes Thoren unique is her many years of first-hand experience leading public campaigns for companies that have already gained a social license and public support in B.C.’s complex regulatory and stakeholder environment. She is recognized for her ability to work with executives, technical staff, and field staff alike to find common solutions that contribute to completing projects on time and on budget.

Most recently, at BC Hydro, Thoren led a newly-formed integrated business unit responsible for the communications, stakeholder consultation, government relations, Aboriginal communications, and sustainability activities for the company’s infrastructure program. In this role, her team was responsible for gaining community support on dozens of projects through their development of best practice programs. Before this, she was Director of Public Affairs at the BC Transmission Corporation, where she was responsible for all internal and external communications and stakeholder programs on a number of successfully completed projects.

Thoren has also worked as an account director at a major public relations firm and was a media spokesperson for former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien. In this role, she was responsible for speaking publicly, on behalf of the Prime Minister, on a range of high profile and controversial issues. Thoren has been a political commentator for a major national news network and has enjoyed being a regular speaker at industry conferences across North America.

Josée Laroque is a Senior Consultant with Global’s Natural Resources and Energy practice in Ottawa. She monitors policy issues and develops stakeholder outreach strategies, providing insight and analysis to clients. Prior to joining Global, Josée worked as part of the communications team at FortisBC Energy Inc, implementing communications and social marketing strategies, and providing communications advice to senior leadership. She began her career in public affairs while working for a Member of Parliament, and later on for the Prime Minister’s Office and the British High Commission in Ottawa. She also provided communications and government relations support on trade and agricultural issues while working for Dairy Farmers of Canada and the B.C. Fruit Growers Association. Josée holds a Bachelor’s of Commerce with a major in International Management from the University of Ottawa, and a Diploma in Public Communication from the Université du Québec.

Yonathan Sumamo">Sumamo




Yonathan has more than eight years of experience in communications and public relations consulting. Having worked in several provincial ministries with the Public Affairs Bureau and at the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, he is a skilled crisis communications and strategic planning advisor.

During his time with the Public Affairs Bureau, Yonathan dealt with a number of high-profile public relation issues and crises, including working in the Emergency Operations Centre during the High River floods.

In the Legislature, Yonathan has served as a press secretary and most recently, as a senior communications consultant with the Progressive Conservative Caucus.

As a former journalist working in both print and radio in a number of different communities, Yonathan has tremendous amounts of experience in messaging to targeted audiences in an engaging and strategic manner. Yonathan is a long-time volunteer and board member of the Edmonton International Film Festival.

Kristy Thomson is a Senior Consultant supporting Global’s Alberta clients in the areas of health and life sciences, transportation and infrastructure, arts and culture, as well as the non-profit space. She provides strategic communications and media advice, monitors current affairs, and supports client initiatives through government relations. Prior to Global, Kristy worked in broadcast news where she produced current affairs and news magazine programs in Toronto, Edmonton, and Calgary for Global News and CTV.

Kristy volunteers for the Federation of Calgary Communities Urban Planning Program and with the Master of Public Policy Alumni Association at the University of Calgary. Kristy holds a Bachelor’s of Journalism from Ryerson University and a Master’s of Public Policy from the University of Calgary.

Pamela Smith is a Consultant with the Strategic Communications group in Toronto, providing presentation training and programming expertise for corporate events and special projects. She is focused on messaging, research and delivery tactics to ensure corporate leaders are prepared for public-facing communications and creative outlets. Prior to joining Global, Pamela was a lecture agent at The Lavin Agency where she represented some of North America’s most prestigious public figures and thought leaders in business, politics, technology, and the arts. She has also worked in the financial and commercial real estate sectors. Pamela has an extensive background in the performing arts and holds a Masters of Fine Arts from York University.

Meg Shannon is a member of the Strategic Communications group in the Toronto office, providing strong communications knowledge and capabilities as well as an extensive background in digital communication.

Prior to joining Global, Meg worked at the Professional Association of Canadian Theatre (PACT) as a Membership and Communications Manager. In addition to her work at PACT, Meg also co-chaired the communications committee of the Canadian Arts Coalition and she regularly contributes to Nonprofit MarCommunity. Working predominantly on brand social media platforms, she has extensive experience in content creation, data collection, and reporting for campaigns to ensure success is communicated, monitored, and tracked in great detail.

Meg is a native of Kingston, ON and holds an Honours BA in English literature and Theatre Studies from the University of Guelph and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Arts Management from the University of Western Ontario.

Hershell Ezrin is Senior Counsel of Advocacy, Public Affairs and Strategic Communications at Global Public Affairs. He is a former senior public servant and political adviser for three levels of government and is a former CEO of two multinational companies. Hershell is also a former corporate director in energy, financial services and service sectors and a leader in health, arts and community affairs. He currently lectures in two post-graduate programs, is a Distinguished Fellow, Strategy at the Ted Rogers School of Management, and is an honorary lifetime governor of the Canadian Journalism Foundation.
